My Students
I work with students and families that come from under served communities that are furthest from educational justice and provide them with social and emotional support throughout the day. I also work with families and community members in providing after school enrichment that is full of physical fitness and STEM activities that keeps both their minds and bodies healthy. Additionally, I’m the leader and founder of the school’s Black Family Council.
My goal is to always serve my students and their families to the best of my abilities, and to develop and support positive behavior in all of our students.
I teach and interact with over 400 kindergarten through 5th grade students and every day is a new and different experience. We are a school with students who come from a variety of social and economic challenges.
We have implemented a School-Wide Positive Behavior and Intervention Support (PBIS) plan over the last 4 years, "Check-In/Check-Out" (CICO). Through CICO we work to encourage positive behaviors in our students and develop the social skills that will help them achieve their future goals. Our students’ confidence thrives when their social skills are developed in a positive way.

My Project
Positive behavior plays a large role in the success of our students. Our school's goal through our PBIS program is to promote these positive behaviors not only through recognizing the students by name or with just a simple "good job" but also by allowing them to be rewarded for their hard word. The fidgets and games included in this project will allow the students to "buy" incentives they are truly motivated by. We cannot expect students to work for things they do not want.
Our goal is to use these incentives to show these kids not only does positive behavior make you feel good and help you do well in school, but it also can earn you some pretty cool things!
Beacon Hill International School knows that by rewarding the students with these incentives for behavior, the positive behaviors will eventually become engraved in them and they will do these things because it is simply who they are as people!
