This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Do you remember when you started to count money? The first time when I learned to count money was really challenging to me. I would like to share a creative and innovative way with my students to learn about financial needs and counting money.
I have 11 boys and 12 girls in my classroom.
They come from poverty stricken neighborhoods. They come from various cultural and economic backgrounds. This offers a great challenge for myself as well as the students. It also offers a great opportunity for people to work together and learn about others and their way of life. They attend an inner city Title 1 school that struggles to keep and maintain adequate equipment and supplies.
My Project
The iPad3 would provide my students with a fun and engaging way to work on their money skills. There are hundreds of apps that we can choose from to help students practice these real world skills in a variety of formats. Students will be able to practice counting coins and making change in real world scenarios to help build proficiency. Students often become frustrated when they are working on their money skills. The iPad would provide students with a new way to practice and help alleviate some of this frustration. With these resources, students can begin having in-depth discussions about the importance of spending, saving, and eventually investing.
The case will protect the iPad to ensure that it can be used for years to come.
This project will impact my students by providing exposure to the latest technology that will provide learning opportunities beyond our classroom.
This will enrich my student's life experiences through creating real world learning experiences. If they are given the knowledge to understand the world and the wisdom to change it, then the possibilities for the future are greater.
