This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I like to use hands-on, "real-life" projects to help teach math. I also like to encourage students to make things colorful, so students can get creative with math, which often helps them get over their fear of the subject.

This year I will be at a new school district, and I really want to make a good impression.

I will be teaching 2 sections of 7th grade math, 2 sections of 8th grade math, and one section of 7-8 intervention. I really want to strengthen my skills in this area.

My Project

This conference is in it's 60th year, and every time I have been fortunate enough to attend I have always come home inspired to help students learn math in new ways. This professional development will help me be the best that I can be in the classroom. I will be able to attend sessions from the leading math teachers, and learn about new programs that have been successful in other classrooms.

I will be starting my 12th year teaching middle school math, and I love to learn new approaches to help excite students about my subject.

I am asking for funding to pay for the conference. I will cover the hotel expenses.
