We started with Crayola Modeling Compound to build tectonic plates and learn how the Earth changes shape as pressure from lava pushes through or moves the plates. The students were able to verbally explain the outcomes of this Earth's phenomena using the Crayola Model Magic Modeling Compound. My students have difficulties with writing; however, with the materials on hand and the practiced vocabulary, they did an excellent job completing this assignment. \r\n\r\nIn another activity, the students were allowed to explore with materials such as \r\nThe Microscope Kit Science Toy, Slides With Specimens, and the Assembly Solar Powered Toy Kit, the students quickly used the instruction manuals and independently built the mobiles during their free time. They were learning even during their \"free time.\" Though they have limited reading and writing skills, my students were able to express themselves using new vocabulary (words from the pamphlet and instructional manual). They were able to write about how and what they used to build the toys, including the problems they encountered. They did this while reading their own notes and graphic organizers that I created for this assignment. It was an amazing feeling of accomplishment for me to see my students excel through this activity, and their sustained on-task attention, thanks to the hands-on materials. \r\n\r\nThe Solar System, Talking Astronomy Planetarium Projector has been a hit, as it is placed on our classroom Science table. Other students who come to visit during lunchtime can use it. They like the dual language voices.\r\n\r\nWe have not yet used the Rock & Mineral Kit, but the lesson prepared for them will require students to explore our campus to find rocks around our baseball field to compare them with the Mineral Kit rocks. I am excited for them to see where it takes us. Open-ended activities like these are important for our students, as they analyze their surroundings, develop their own conclusions, and continue to explore with curiosity. \r\n\r\nOn behalf of all of my students and myself, thank you so much.","fullyFundedDate":1762813052936,"projectUrl":"project/the-science-of-today-is-the-technology-o/9881587/","projectTitle":"The Science of today is the technology of tomorrow","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Hernandez","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-9_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9547936"},{"teacherId":8038659,"projectId":9607940,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your incredibly generous donation of musical instruments to our class.
