Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
As a reading interventionist, the importance of high-interest decodable books cannot be overstated in fostering literacy development among struggling readers.
Firstly, high-interest decodable books serve as invaluable tools in engaging students who may otherwise find reading daunting or uninteresting.
By catering to their specific interests and providing content that aligns with their reading abilities, these books instill confidence and motivation, crucial elements in the journey towards literacy.
I have one set of these books and just this week one of my students, who, at the started the year when a book was put in front of her, stated, "I cannot read" excited asked if she could take home books 3 and 4 in this series over the weekend. As I work with with over 50 students, I would love to have more of these incredible high interest decodables to expose more students to the love of reading.
Moreover, the accessibility of decodable books facilitates personalized learning experiences tailored to individual student needs. With varied levels of complexity and diverse topics, educators can effectively differentiate instruction, ensuring that every student receives the support they require to progress in their reading skills.
