This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Students at our school are very special. As middle schoolers, each student has the opportunity to choose to play in either band or orchestra. Regardless of if a family can afford to buy or rent an instrument for their child, our school has instruments for the students to borrow throughout his or her playing career.

All students get an equal opportunity to learn, love, and pursue music.

Our school is comprised of over 50% free and reduced-price lunch so not all families can afford to give their students instruments or supplies to be successful in the music classroom.

My Project

Young music students deserve high quality materials, no matter their background. At my school, I am able to offer all students an instrument to play and take home to practice, but the "extras" come at a cost that many families cannot afford.

Materials such as reeds, cases, books, and stands can be expensive but are so necessary for a young band student to feel successful in class.

These students can make beautiful music with the help from amazing donors, like you! With good sounding reeds, comfortable neck straps, new method books, and cases and stands to keep their instruments safe, there is no limit to what these kiddos can do.

I believe in these kids every day, and I know that I must fight to keep music in their lives. By offering them good quality instruments and materials, they can be great leaders and get on a productive and safe path in life.
