Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I have the honor to work with many students who are motivated students who are either EO's or ELL's who want to learn everything about anything. These students come from a low socioeconomic background, military families and foster homes with limited resources available. But they still come to school with ready to work and learn to their best ability.
My middle school students are incredible; they are eager to learn with the materials that are given to them and what their teacher can provide.
They will be working hard and additional material that would make their learning more productive will be required.
These students are incredible; they are hungry to learn new things but they also need to be given the chance to be challenged and achieve greatness. We are a Title I Performance Improvement school, with 100% participation in the free lunch program. Though their environment may not be conducive to learning, my students have an insatiable love of learning! I know that if we provide them with the right support, resources, opportunities, and basic supplies they can experience greatness. At same time we need to recognize their hard work.
My Project
The book is a great additional resource that every middle students should have throughout their whole middle school academic career. Everything You Need to Ace English covers specific areas not seen in English class in 6th grade. This book covers grammar to reading comprehension to writing with ease, including parts of speech, active and passive verbs, Greek and Latin roots and affixes; nuances in word meanings; textual analysis, authorship, structure, and other skills for reading fiction and nonfiction; and writing arguments, informative texts, and narratives.
The best part of this book is that it meet Common Core State Standards it makes learning fun and are the perfect next step for every kid who still is struggling mastering the English language.
It covers the basic and much more needed in mastering the English languages especially for ELD students.
This book will be used as a second resource to make English learning more hands on, fun and productive toward my students, and more importantly master the skills they require in 7th grade. Lets take the fear of English away and make it more fun and with greater understanding. Inside the reader will find every subject’s key concepts, easily digested and summarized: Critical ideas highlighted in neon colors. Definitions explained. Doodles that illuminate tricky concepts in marker.
