My Project

Our 1st grade classroom is full of 6 and 7 year olds who are always on the go! They love to learn about everything! They are learning habits that will stay with them throughout their education. One of these habits is responsibility and organization of their school supplies. Our school is set up to facilitate working as a group/team, therefore our students sit at tables and not individual desks. The table set up is fantastic for the curriculum our school uses. The downside is that the students have nowhere to store their supplies. Currently, workbooks and other supplies are on milk crate shelves around the perimeter of the classroom. This requires a lot of movement every time we need a different resource for our lesson. Seat pockets would be fantastic for the students to have their supplies within reach, it would allow the students to be responsible for their own materials, and it would keep class transitions moving smoothly.
