My students need balls, bowling sets, yoga DVDs, and a mesh bag/garbage bins to hold the P.E. equipment.
FULLY FUNDED! Ms. A. Wong's classroom raised $996

My Students
My students are bright eyed and ready to please! Over 90% of my students come to school with a primary language other than English. They are from immigrant families who receive free and reduced lunch status. Parents want them to do well in school, but many struggle because they are learning to speak English or have other special learning needs. In spite of this, the children are happy to be in school and try their best.
Because of this, I want to do my best for them so that each one of them succeeds in school.
My work is not done until each child makes good progress and thrives in all subject areas throughout the school year.
My Project
My students stated that they love to play games where everyone is the winner. They brainstormed ways they could partner with someone during P.E. so that everyone is a winner, and no one is a loser. The students felt that games that were competitive hurt some students’ feelings.
The students "created" non-competitive activities to get active and improve skills.
One of the games they "created" was throwing balls to and catching balls with partners. Every time a ball is caught, the team (consisting of both partners) receives a point. (This is in contrast to partners playing against each other. For example, if I catch a ball, I get a point; if you catch a ball, you get a point.) This project encourages each partner to throw a “good” ball because if the other partner catches it, the entire team (both partners) receives a point.
Another game that the students said they really wanted to play was bowling because some of their siblings have gone on field trips to bowl. They wanted to make bowling non-competitive by having the entire partnership receive a point each time anyone on the team knocked over a pin. We also need bins in which to store the equipment.
In addition, some of the students requested yoga activities on CD, as they participated in these activities in their previous grade level. This project will incorporate yoga moves throughout the school day.
In this project, all partnerships and players are winners! With your generous donations, these students will be thoroughly engaged in many physical activities that will get them moving each day! Students will be learning lifelong, valuable lessons in building strong, healthy bodies!
