Everyone Needs Math!

My Students

A high poverty, highly diverse PreK-5 school is where I teach. My students are struggling readers in an urban school district who need a great deal of support and motivation to improve their reading skills and further their future. Our school is working diligently to close the achievement gap by placing emphasis on reading, writing, arithmetic, and technology skills. Students in grades 1st - 5th come to me for reading and math intervention. These children have the greatest motivational and skill needs.

Good math fluency resources are hard to come by.

This program would offer an additional resource to help struggling math students.

My Project

This math fluency kit will help my students in acquiring math fluency. Many students I work with lack basic math skills. They cannot move on in their math learning because of their lack of basic skills.

I was a struggling math student once.

I wish I had something available to help me build my basic math skills up.

The population of students I work with is very transient. Many older students come into school missing lower grade foundational skills. Practicing math fluency with them will help them become faster at basic problems and allow them to tackle higher level and multi-step math problems.
