My Students

I often wonder if Mendeleev had any idea how his periodic table would affect the world of chemistry? As a high school teacher of every grade level, I strive to encourage my students to think outside the box because we never know from where the next great idea will come.

The questions they ask inspire me to feed their curiosity much like oxygen feeds a combustion reaction.

My students are bright and extremely curious about the matter all around them, and we often look to the periodic table to make our chemical connections.

My Project

It can be very frustrating during class to reference a periodic table that is missing several elements from period 7. When discussing the elements and the compounds they form, I want my students to have access to the latest information. I want them to understand the complete story that the periodic table tells about the elements.

It is important for my students to understand that chemistry is alive and new discoveries are being made constantly.

I want them to see what Mendeleev started so many years ago is still growing today, and I want them to make predictions about how it may grow in the future!
