I teach in a Title 1 school in Hudson, Florida. I am an Exceptional Student Support Facilitator. I help students who are at least 1-2 more grade levels behind their expected grade and have learning disabilities.
It is my privilege to work with these students and give them the love, kindness, support and education they deserve.
I also am a co-teacher in a general education 2nd grade classroom. We have about 24 students from all walks of life in our classroom. A lot of our students come from a not so pleasant household. A lot of our students suffer from trauma in their daily lives. From parents to being in jail/prison, not having enough food, homelessness, living in a one bedroom house with 12 people, and abuse.
Our students need resources to help them learn in the way they best learn, not as a class, but as individuals. That is why I am asking for donations to help build this kind of classroom.
My Project
The readers will help my ESE (special education) students to feel successful as readers. They are set up in a way that helps them practice the sight words we are working on and to pair them with words so they are not just learning them in isolation.
My students often don't feel the success that most students feel when they are learning because of their learning disabilities it is a struggle.
Having resources that set them up for success such as the readers and the phonic, math, reading, and science center books will help them to learn in the way that works best for them.
