Everyone Has a Spot!

Help me give my students a new classroom rug that has spots designated for them to keep focused. They also need lapdesks and wobble chairs to give them optimal learning opportunities through flexible seating on the rug.

My Students

Every morning, my students come in with an eagerness to push themselves to be the best they can be. By the end of this school year, I hope that all my students will have the love of learning and dedication for academic excellence. By getting this project funded, I believe I can meet that goal.

My students always use their best effort and really want to succeed within the classroom as well as in life.

Our school has a very diverse population and has a positive attitude towards learning. We strive to create a safe environment for every child. Every morning, students recite our school's daily affirmation saying "I am respectful. I am responsible. I am safe. I use my best effort and today I will succeed." I feel very lucky to be part of a school that puts so much care towards their students and who believes that every single one of them will succeed.

My Project

All students want to learn! How do they learn? When they are comfortable. I would love to give my students the opportunity to learn successfully by having them discover what works for them. Studies show that comfortable classrooms promote a sense of well-being, keep minds focused, and limit distractions.

Flexible seating encourages students to find their best spot to stay calm, focused, and productive.

Throughout the day, students rushed to get to the flexible seating options I had. I would like to add more with wobble chairs and lap desks so that students can be optimally engaged in their learning. Some kids like to stand, others need to move to concentrate, and still others choose to be in their seats or on the rug. These flexible seating options give students a physical outlet, so that their brain can focus on the learning objective at hand. We also need a new rug badly! The one we've chosen gives students their own space to learn and grow so they can have their own space during rug time and for flexible seating.
