This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Students need a new Author’s Chair because it plays a vital role in fostering a positive and engaging learning environment. The Author’s Chair is more than just a seat—it’s a symbol of creativity, confidence, and respect for student voices. When students share their writing in front of the class, having a dedicated, comfortable, and inviting chair helps reinforce the importance of their ideas and efforts. A new chair signals that their work matters and that the classroom values their expression.

Over time, the current Author’s Chair has become worn out or uncomfortable, making it less appealing for students to use.

A fresh, sturdy chair can restore enthusiasm for sharing and create a special moment for each student when it’s their turn. It also helps set the stage for active listening and peer support, turning writing time into a celebrated and inclusive experience.

Furthermore, updating classroom tools like the Author’s Chair shows students that their environment is being cared for and improved. It sends a message that their learning space is important, and that they deserve the best resources possible to grow as readers, writers, and thinkers. Investing in a new Author’s Chair is a simple but meaningful way to boost student engagement, pride, and ownership of their learning.
