My students need centers in rhyming, sequence, beginning sounds and alphabet. They also need long and short vowel magnets and two storage boxes to keep things organized.
Have you ever wished you were able to do fun activities to help you learn independently? I want my students to be able to enjoy their learning whether it is with a teacher or independently.
My students attend a urban/inner-city school.
There is a high population of English as a Second Language students, and students who have special learning needs. It is in a high poverty area where 80-90% of the school population is on free and reduced lunch. Many students come from non-traditional family structure or live with single parents who work outside the typical work day.
My Project
My students need centers in rhyming, sequence, beginning sounds and alphabet. They also need long and short vowel magnets and two storage boxes to keep things organized. Due to a low budget to get supplies I have to make a large amount of resources, or spend my own money. These resources will allow the students to receive the high quality instruction that I want them to be able to receive even when they aren't working directly with an adult. The independent learning centers and magnets will allow them to continue to practice their skills when they aren't receiving direct instruction. The vowel magnets will allow me to practice working with vowels during reading groups in a way that will engage them and make the learning more visual.
The donations to this project will make a big difference in making every second of reading instruction purposeful.
It will take away the need for worksheets and keep instruction focused on where the students need it the most.
