There is something so special about watching a first grader open a new book, study the pictures, recognize familiar words, and realize, \"I can read this!\" Your donation is helping my students experience those wonderful moments every day. These books allow us to practice important skills such as identifying characters and settings, retelling stories, finding the main idea and key details, making predictions, building vocabulary, and answering questions about what we read. More importantly, they are helping my students discover that reading can be exciting, comforting, funny, and fun.\r\n\r\nReading is a big part of our day, whether we are enjoying a story together, working in a small group, reading with a partner, or choosing a book to read independently. One of my favorite things is watching students browse our classroom library and become excited when they find a book that interests them. Some of my students who are still developing confidence as readers are especially drawn to the new books. They love looking through the pictures, sharing books with friends, talking about their favorite parts, and proudly showing me words they can read on their own. Seeing their confidence grow and hearing them ask, \"Can I read this one next?\" is incredibly rewarding.\r\n\r\nYour donation has helped put books directly into the hands of children who are learning what it means to become readers. These books will be read, shared, talked about, laughed over, and loved by my students for years to come.
