I teach third grade at a diverse, Title I school in southwest Florida. Sixty-one percent of our students receive free or reduced price lunch. Our students come from numerous cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds. Through lots of hard work, our school continues to help our students succeed.
As a school, we've been putting a lot of time and energy into teaching our students about growth mindset.
Children with a growth mindset believe that intelligence can be developed. These students see school as a place to develop their abilities and think of challenges as opportunities to grow.
My Project
For this project, I am requesting books that demonstrate a growth mindset that I will be able to use as read-alouds in my classroom. These books will help my students have a better understanding of growth mindset and the importance of accepting challenges and working through mistakes.
By providing my students with concrete examples of growth mindset, I will help them develop into challenge seekers instead of students who shy away from hard work.
It will also help them to understand and tolerate others who are different from them and to realize that everyone can learn and grow - we just do it in different ways. Your donations will help me give my students a variety of examples of growth mindset this year and for many years to come.
