My students can really get on my nerves. They are loud, they are obnoxious, they are rambunctious and at the same time, they are compassionate, they are loving, and they are full of hope. For many of them, they are compassionate to their friend who lost their home. They are loving to their friend who lost a close relative. They are full of hope that they can achieve greater than the generation before them.
My students give me hope.
Many of my students have and are going through harder times than I have seen in my life. Just making it to school under their circumstances can be very difficult but they do it with dignity. Education is their way up; out of their neighborhood and off the streets.
With all of these factors in mind, I love my students and want to provide for them the best education and the best resources that are available.
My Project
Many professionals agree that a 2 to 1 student to technology ratio is the ideal amount of technology in a classroom. Rather than students working independently, every student will be encouraged to learn to collaborate with one another by sharing a computer they are working on. Having this incorporated into everyday lessons will greatly increase student engagement in their learning. Previously my class was able to acquire 8 chromebooks and students have been able to work together in stations with them and for extensions.
Students accessing math through technology has been transformative since getting only a few chromebooks.
Now I want to make one final push for a few more so that my students can have this same access every day. With only 4 to go, this vision is nearly complete.
Thank you in advance to any and everyone who is willing to help make this happen!
