I have been teaching middle school students long enough to know one thing is absolutely certain; their attention span has very fine boundaries to put it modestly. Over the last several decades, our society has made leaps and bounds. In doing so, we need to proportionally increase our standards for how we educate our youth. If we want the children of today to provide us with the advancements of tomorrow, we need to teach them with the resources of today. Too many classrooms in 2017 look no different than those in 1977 or even 1957! Access to technology gives students the ability to take ownership of their learning and involve themselves in the process. As a society, we now have access to all of the information in the world available at the click of a button. I have seen classrooms where the students are able to feed their curiosity and it is wonderful. I want my students to be able to feed the flame of inquisition and access to technology will be the kindling. These requested Samsung Chromebooks will allow me to better differentiate my instruction by doing more projects and employ a wider range of resources and instructional strategies. I have had the privilege of working with many veterans teachers who have learning stations for their students using Chromebooks for some who rotate to other stations where they are taught and develop skills using a variety of learning tools.
