Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are always looking forward to our school-wide performances. Since I've been at my school we've been building the music program into a wonderful showcase of talent. However, most of our sound equipment is outdated and makes it hard for parents to hear their students.
My students come from a background where they do not get much support at home.
They are often told that music and art is something that is not worth their time, but lately we've been able to show parents otherwise. We've had over 300 parents at every performance so far, and they just keep getting bigger. The parents want to see their students perform but it's hard to hear with our old equipment.
My Project
The students will use these new microphones for our performances during the school year. They will be wireless microphones so students can move around stage and we can add more of a theater feel to our current productions. Our hope if to be able to have the new microphones for our winter performance so students will be able to have speaking parts.
This will help students learn how to not only be musicians, but also performers.
They will be coached in how to hold themselves on stage and how to use the microphones to better their performances. This would be a great addition to our program.
