My Project

In my Pre-Kindergarten classroom at Spring Valley Elementary, many of my students are working hard to master foundational reading skills such as letter-sound correspondence, phonemic awareness, decoding, sight word recognition, fluency, and comprehension.

For many emerging readers, learning to read requires repeated, structured practice with books that match their instructional level.

My students thrive when they can hold books in their hands, practice targeted skills, and experience success with texts they can truly read.

This project includes the beloved Bob Books reading sets along with the new Scholastic Sight Word Stories Guided Reading Books Collection (Levels A–D). These engaging books will allow my students to practice decoding, recognize high-frequency words, strengthen reading fluency, and build comprehension through meaningful, repeated reading experiences.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
