Patterson Park Public Charter School is a public charter school located next to Patterson Park in the city of Baltimore. My students are 3rd and 4th grade students that volunteer on the school's Green Team. Our club focuses on taking care of the earth, recycling and sharing information with others to advocate for and teach others how to care for the environment. This year we have been working on building awareness through an antilittering campaign in our school and community.
We are gearing up for Earth Day and want to use this day to help educate others about the environment and create awareness in our community.
In our project, we are asking for materials for various Earth Day activities. Our Green Team students will be planting seeds with younger grades as they learn about caring for the environment. We have been collecting old crayons in our recycling hub and we are are in need of new silicon molds to melt and upcycle the old crayons. The cardstock and laminating sleeves will be used to create infographics and posters about littering. Finally, the books will be part of a lending library for teachers and students to borrow and learn more about how they can help the Earth.
