This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Project

As the trend gains momentum, crocheting is not only serving as a personal outlet for these students but also becoming a shared experience. "I've started to notice that so many people are wearing things that are made out of crochet, like I did as a child. My grandmother taught me. Crochet allows students to slow down, focus their minds and create something tangible in a fast-paced academic environment. As many teachers and doctors attest, improvement is noted in:

Fine motor coordination, Reading, Math, Comprehension and Critical thinking and problem-solving.

I want my students to value time. They will learn to understand that every thing takes time and effort. They learn to be patient. Things don't happen overnight. This will also get them away from video games.

Crocheting also allows for:

Creative Expression: Crochet is a form of artistic expression, allowing individuals to create unique and intricate designs through the manipulation of yarn.

Handmade Gifts: Many people use crochet to make handmade gifts for friends and family, adding a personal touch to the items they create.

Therapeutic Benefits: Crocheting can have therapeutic benefits, providing a calming and meditative activity that helps reduce stress and anxiety.

Community and Socializing:Crocheting is a social activity that brings people together. Many join crochet groups or participate in community projects, fostering a sense of connection.

Hobbies and Pastime: Crocheting serves as a fulfilling hobby, providing a constructive and enjoyable way to spend leisure time.

Skill Development: Learning to crochet enhances fine motor skills and cognitive abilities, making it a valuable skill for personal development.
