Help me give my students these adorable classroom desk pets! The plastic containers will serve as their pet's home. These will be used as an incentive, a clever classroom management technique that will add excitement to our classroom!
My classroom is full of amazing 6 and 7-year-old first graders who are enthusiastic and excited to learn. During the 2020 - 2021 school year, students' in-person learning was limited due to Covid-19. Our district used the hybrid model for most of the 2020-2021 school year, so students only attended school in-person 2 days per week until March. We began the 2021-2022 school year in person full time and I want to make sure that I'm able to give my students everything they need to be successful!
My Project
This project will provide supplies that will allow me to implement a positive "Desk Pet" behavior system in my first grade classroom. Students will have the opportunity to work towards earning their own desk pet, a home for their desk pet and mini food erasers to feed to their pet.
This "Desk Pet" project will be used as an incentive to encourage positive behavior in my classroom.
Students will be able to earn desk pets for being kind, working hard, helping others, following directions, and so much more! My students will be able to play with their desk pets during their social time of the day. This will allow my students to further develop their social skills. Nurturing their new desk pet will allow my students to continue to develop and practice their social/emotional learning skills. Desk Pets will certainly add fun and excitement to our classroom, too!
