My Project

As a first-year elementary school counselor, I am excited to begin building a safe, welcoming space where every child feels seen, supported, and valued. I serve nearly 300 students in Pre-K through fifth grade, and starting in August, I'll have the opportunity to help children navigate big emotions, build healthy relationships, and develop the social and emotional skills they need to succeed both in and out of the classroom. These supplies would help meet the students' needs. I serve around 300 students with a wide range of needs, from Nonverbal autism to behavioral needs, grief, trauma, navigating foster care, and anxiety. I want to create a space where we can do hands-on activities like coloring, games, and art therapy, and a calming corner for students who are overwhelmed to decompress. The items in this project will help create a therapeutic environment where students can learn healthy coping skills, practice emotional regulation, improve communication, and build confidence. Sensory tools, flexible seating, games, books, and other counseling resources will be used during individual counseling sessions, small groups, crisis support, and classroom guidance lessons. As a first-year counselor, I am starting with very few counseling resources. Every donated item will be used regularly and make a lasting difference in my students' lives. Your generosity will help create a space where children feel safe to learn, grow, and overcome challenges. Thank you!
