My Project

My first-grade students are at an exciting stage of learning. They are transitioning from learning to read to reading to learn. They will learn how to explore stories, ask questions, and discover new ideas through books. Every child enters the classroom with unique strengths, experiences, and interests, and I my desire for each of my students to have a rich collection of time-tested books that will help them find something to fall in love with.

The books in this project will build a classroom library filled with high-quality, time-tested literature.

Students will have the opportunity to independently browse books, participate in read-alouds, and develop the habits found in lifelong readers.

Along with these books, hands-on learning materials such as pattern blocks, mini abacuses, and STEM resources will help students develop problem-solving, mathematical reasoning, and critical thinking skills. Laminating pouches and organizational supplies will allow classroom resources to be used repeatedly throughout the year, ensuring that students will have access to durable, engaging learning materials every day.
