Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I work at a Title I school where many of the students are economically disadvantaged. They have all experienced much in their young lives, yet they are so hardworking and eager to learn.

I will teach math and science to two classes of fifth graders this year.

These are my students who I didn't get to finish the year with in third grade due to the pandemic, so I'm looking forward to working with them again this year. All of my students, including those considered gifted/talented, those with dyslexia, and those who are in ESL and special education programs, should have the tools that they need to be successful.

I want my students to be excited about learning and set goals to improve their math and science skills. I'm always looking for ways to provide my students with experiences and lessons to encourage their success. It is important that my students are engaged in fun, exciting, and challenging activities.

My Project

This year our district is using Eureka Math for our new curriculum.

Eureka Math consists of many timed sections throughout each lesson and the items that I am requesting will help our lessons flow, and keep us on pace while also having fun at the same time.

The place value decimals discs will allow students to move the pieces and see their relationship on a place value board when representing numbers containing decimals. With the Teachers Pay Teachers gift card, I will be able to purchase a digital lesson format for Eureka Math to keep us organized and on track with all of the new lesson components. The presentation ring clickers will give me more flexibility to change the computer slides during a lesson when moving between groups and also allow students to take on the role as teacher at times. Students will be able to help with lesson pacing using the timers during math sprints. The disinfecting wipes will keep our devices and desks germ free and help us stay safe this year.
