This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Remember the excitement of starting something new? Our classroom has a constant buzz of energy and engagement.

"Work Hard.

Sound Nice." is our school band motto. My students work hard every day and deserve to sound nice! Students in our urban school in Texas work hard every day. They go to school for 9 hours daily, and some stay after for extra-curricular offerings. Our budget is very slim, and students have become accustomed to doing a lot with very little. Our school band is in its sixth year of existence and has very limited resources, especially in low brass.

My Project

The euphonium we are requesting will be used by 3 students daily. These students will share use of the instrument in beginning, concert, and symphonic bands. The euphonium is a low brass instrument, so it will add depth to the sound of our ensembles. It will be used by students who previously attempted trumpet but could not ascertain higher pitches.

This project will make a difference in the sound of our ensembles as well as in the lives of students for years to come.

Adding the euphonium to our library of school-owned instruments will create a lasting impact on the possibilities of our music program. Since students who previously found failure on trumpet will be using it as a tool linked to musical success, this project will make a big difference in the lives of three of our current students.
