Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I will be teaching Pre-K this year and I am always looking for ways to enhance their learning environment and make my classroom a place they want to be. I want my classroom to be a place they feel safe and comfortable, because I know this is where they spend a great deal of their day, and for some children, it's the only place they get smiles, hugs, encouragement, and positive interaction with peers and adults.
My students live in a high poverty, multicultural community in the South Bronx, and the majority of them come from low-income families and/or temporary housing.
Despite most of them coming from temporary housing, these students come to school with smiles on their faces, eager to learn the various lessons that await them, but they need additional resources to enhance their learning.
My Project
I would love to give my students each a gift for the holidays. When I was a child, one of my teachers gifted me an Etch a Sketch for Christmas, and it was the best gift I received that year. I remember how my teacher told me that she wanted me to use my imagination to create beautiful designs and pictures on the Etch a Sketch.
My students will use these Etch a Sketches to put their imaginations to work.
They will be able to design and create pictures on the sketch boards.
My students deserve a special gift for the holiday season! My students may not be getting many gifts for the holidays but I would love to be able to provide them with at least one very special present that they can remember when they hopefully become teachers one day as well!
