Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I work in a Title I school where 100% of the students qualify to receive free breakfast and lunch. I currently have 20 scholars who are eager to learn and despite the challenges in today's world, they come in with a huge smile that can be seen through their masks.

My favorite part of the day is our end of the day class meeting, when they each get one minute to share how they feel or what they liked that we did during the day.

My Project

The second semester is here and we need to replenish our essentials. The dry erase markers and boards will be used daily in the classroom throughout the day. My favorite time is when we play SHOWDOWN, students are posed with a question and they must write it on their board, once I state 1,2,3 SHOWDOWN, students "show-off" their responses. They love this educational game and all students are engaged; whilst I am able to see which students have mastered the specific skill we are working on. The command strips will be used to glue them on their desks, where their headphones will hang. The headphones will also be used daily, as students use a program on their iPads that they must be able to listen to in order to select their answers.

All these resources will be used throughout the day to positively impact student's learning and promote working hard for rewards such as the ring pops or fidget toys.
