My Students
My classes are a lively bunch of eighth graders living on the Big Island Hawaii. The students come from a diverse background all over the Pacific, Asia and US mainland. Most are low income with limited ability to purchase school supplies.
My students are ohana (family) oriented individuals that love working in groups and interacting with one another through technology.
They love opportunities to engage in their learning beyond typical direct instruction. My students strive to do their best with what is (or is not) provided by both the school and at home. I am very proud and honored to be their teacher.
My Project
I am requesting laptop sleeves so students can transport their school-issued laptops to- and from- school safely and make sure they last the entire year. I am also requesting general classroom supplied to make sure we are outfitted for success. I teach math, so I would like each student to have a dry erase coordinate plane at their desk as we will be using this the majority of the school year. Finally, I requesting books for students to read for pleasure during our SURF time. SURF at our school stands for Silent Uninterrupted Reading Fun!
