My Students

My classes are a lively bunch of seventh graders living on Oahu. The students come from a diverse background all over the Pacific, Asia and US mainland. Most are low income with limited ability to purchase school supplies.

My students are ohana (family) oriented individuals that love working in groups and interacting with one another through technology.

They love opportunities to engage in their learning beyond typical direct instruction. My students strive to do their best with what is (or is not) provided by both the school and at home. I am very proud and honored to be their teacher.

My Project

This year is unfolding in a way different than most students, parents and teachers had imagined. Schedules have been changed and budgets cut; leaving classrooms void of resources need to successfully implement distance learning and blended learning instruction models.

I am seeking basic classroom essentials to support my students and teaching this year.

During distance learning the monitor would be used so we can see each other on Google Meets and the presentation simultaneously. During blended learning the monitor will be used alongside the speaker, mouse and keyboard as a station for students to work at a safe distance from one another. The stylus pens will be used by students to complete math problems with their school issued iPads. Finally, the office supplies will be distributed to students who need some basics.

All of these supplies would help me better support 130 7th grade low income students in Honolulu. These students are not getting a math program but me, a live teacher who will do whatever it takes to deliver top-notch lessons wherever we are!
