This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

For schools that serve lower-income students, such as mine, who were already behind the starting line, the challenges of daily life are even greater to keep up with during this current recession. This year, as a special education teacher moving to a new campus, I am the one in need of help. I service students of multiple grades with learning disabilities, specifically in reading and math.

Given that I don't have a traditional homeroom that brings supplies, this project will provide necessary supplies for my resource team to set up a classroom for teaching reading, writing, and math to our special education students.

The supplies in this project focus on operating and organizing a special education classroom on a day-to-day basis. The other supplies are typically not provided by the students' parents or guardians, but rather to their homeroom teacher or not at all. Lately, it has been not at all. It will be much easier to begin a new year and venture with anything and everything on this list. Every little bit helps and is appreciated.
