This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students are one of a kind because they are so loving and joyful about learning. We are a Title I-funded school and serve many students from various racial, cultural, linguistic, and socioeconomic backgrounds. Even though they face challenges daily, when they attend class, they are celebrated for their own uniqueness as well as the differences that each one of them brings to the classroom.
My classroom is a community in which students embrace each other, share their own experiences that have shaped their identities, and think critically of the world around them.
My Project
This project will bring our much-desired eSports club to life. The eSports club is very new to our district, and we would like to pilot this program at our school to promote STEM and relevant technology for our eager students. The eSports program empowers our students to embrace 21st century skills of teamwork, communication, strategic thinking, problem-solving and technology. Students have a wonderful, connected learning space that encourages social interaction, but we need the equipment.
Research has shown that eSports provides many of the same benefits as other school activities such as sense of belonging, engagement in real world application, higher academic performance, and character development.
Not all students find their place within those athletic teams or music groups. eSports helps teach students to think critically, communicate, collaborate, and be creative. With your help, I can reach out to even more students in a way that could possibly be life changing for them with a new Nintendo Switch device, higher quality monitors, and other items such as charging cables and HDMI cables.
