This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our high school is a small school in a very rural area of Merced County in California. Our student body is largely (98%) comprised of Hispanic students from low-income households (95% receive free or reduced-price lunch) and we are in the early stages of developing both strong CTE and College Prep Computer Science programs.

Our kids are inquisitive and hard-working and are ready to take up any challenge; we just need the resources to help us provide the tools they need.

My Project

Esports is the field of competitive video gaming. Not only has this field exploded onto the professional sports field, but is also rapidly growing as a collegiate sport as well. Many Colleges and Universities are hotly competing for national titles and actively recruiting potential high school students to join their ranks while pursuing their higher education goals.

We are building a program to help our students access these opportunities and have a number of equipment needs- the first of which is a set of gaming quality monitors for them to use in competition.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
