Escaping the Classroom: BreakoutEDU Kit

Help me give my students a BreakoutEDU kit with Platform Access to build 21st-century skills and become engaged in collaborative learning.

My Project

BreakoutEDU has developed a gaming experience that educators can use to engage learners of all ages with locks, invisible markers/UV flashlights, timers, safes, and locked boxes. These tools can be used to develop "escape rooms," created by teachers to implement in the classroom. There are also games that are shared and already developed on the BreakoutEDU site and in various BreakoutEDU user groups on social media.

In the game, students are introduced to a problem that incites them to grapple with puzzles and challenges in order to unlock related locks.

Students must work as a team in order to ultimately open the final lock and solve the game. Our world demands that people are skilled collaborators, problem-solvers, and critical thinkers, who can persevere through challenges. This game allows students to improve these skills, while also learning the required content.

My students would benefit from a BreakoutEDU kit with Platform Access to help to build necessary 21st-century skills and become engaged in collaborative learning. Participating in these games will allow students to collaborate and think critically about the games and content being taught in Language Arts class, as well as any interdisciplinary connections being made through the activity. My students are hands-on learners, who excel when working in small groups and collaborating to reach a common goal.
