Help me give my students some more guitars so that they don’t have to share Also, I have students who need to be able to rock themselves. The rocking chair will help them do it safely

My Students

Our school is a charter school that utilizes the School-wide Enrichment Model to build a strong educational foundation and to provide an enriching, individualized, and varied educational experience to all students. We provide students with a strong academic program including enrichment opportunities built upon their individual strengths and talents.

Our energetic, outstanding and passionate students are unified through music.

They all help each other succeed. When one student understands a musical concept then they will turn to their neighbor and help them. They do not have much, but what they do have they appreciate. They strive to have a well rounded education and through music they are able to achieve it.

The demographics of our school covers all of Salt Lake County. We are a Title I school filled with students who want the same opportunity as everyone else. Many students do not have the means to pay for private lessons, so learning a musical instrument is like CANDY to them.

My Project

Research shows that Playing an instrument can help refocus bad energy into something positive and enjoyable, which in turn can help alleviate stress. Reduced stress levels lead to slowing down your heart rate and lowering your blood pressure. Playing and composing music can reduce stress by lowering cortisol levels. With Covid at an all time high students need to have a way to let go of all the worries stress and anxiety. Music provides them away to do it. Having enough instruments will allow students more opportunity to create without running the risk of spreading Covid. Having a rocking chair for students with special needs will also help students function more effectively in music class.
