Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I am a teacher in a low-income area with a high English language learner student population. My students face so many challenges outside of school that are out of their control. I want them to come to school feeling safe, secure and excited about the day. I like to teach outside of the box and think of innovative ways to engage and teach my students. I have 26 amazing 4th graders who love a challenge. They amaze me with the grit and determination they have to reach their learning goals.

My Project

Breakout games encourage everything I want my students to learn: problem solving, collaboration, communication and risk-taking. In academic escape type scenarios, students must work together, thinking critically and creatively to solve a series of challenges. Talk about engagement! This is a great opportunity for students of all learning styles to come together and achieve a common goal.

Breakout games are easy to adapt to all subjects areas and are always a huge success.

I have done many low tech, simple ones across the curriculum with my students. A Break Out Edu Kit in our classroom will take engagement and learning to the next level!
