My Students

I have a wonderful group of students this year that are enthusiastic and interested in learning, especially when there are hands-on activities involved. The students are from diverse backgrounds but all have the common goals of learning problem solving in various ways.

I find that my students come alive when the math comes off of the paper and into real world situations.

They enjoy working in small groups and I enjoy hearing the collaboration conversations that take place. When the students are focused on a common goal of problem solving, even the most unlikely groupings surpass my expectations.

My Project

Escape the room challenges are fun problem solving activities that have become incredibly popular in the past few years. We are requesting two fantastic Breakout EDU kits that parallel the fun of an escape room challenge while providing valuable learning experiences for students. The Breakout EDU kit comes with multiple locks on boxes and platform access to a wealth of quality lessons that use the kits. By having access to the Breakout EDU platform of lessons, I will be able to utilize activities that are aligned to the state standards while engaging students in high interest, hands on, collaborative learning experiences.

My goal is to have the class be as much fun as it can be while still "sneaking in" the math knowledge they need to be successful in life.

Students will have to work together to solve math problems, that align with state learning standards, to successfully open the locks on the Breakout EDU box(es).
