Escape the Covid Beast with PowerPens!

Help me give my students an engaging literacy and math experience by using powerpens. Please also help my students by allowing them to have a calming corner to help them learn coping skills.

My Students

My students are very diverse and have a lot of different backgrounds, some have parents who are recent immigrants, others have been in poverty for multiple generations. They are resilient and able to overcome so many challenges. They are positive and strong. They are funny and dynamic and I learn so much from them.

Covid-19 closures have created foundational gaps in my students' knowledge; this may impact their future success without intensive remediation.

My students have been greatly impacted by COVID, due to having limited resources in their home environment. I work with students in kindergarten through third grade who need additional supports to access the Gen Ed curriculum.

My Project

When I walked into my classroom, I realized that there isn't really anything in here to truly engage my students who receive Special Education Services. The power pens will bridge gaps created by covid in their Literacy and mathematics as they work towards IEP goals. The power pens will create a more engaging experience for literacy and math skills. The beanbag chair will give my students a safe place. One child will come into my room if he is frustrated in his Gen Ed class and hide under the table. I want to have the beanbag chair and posters for my students can calm down and discuss how they are feeling. This project will greatly increase my ability to meet the needs of my students and increase their ability to access the curriculum in the classroom.
