My Students

i have the wonderful opportunity to teach and learn from 110 7th graders each and every day. I teach at a middle school. Our school is extremely diverse. My students need to feel challenged and successful. They want to feel as though they are able to set a goal and then accomplish it!

Each day, I want my students to feel successful, challenged, and empowered.

Good literature has the ability to give these gifts to students. My students are eager to learn and improve and access to exciting novels will help to increase this desire.

My Project

Any one who knows me, knows I love a good escape room. What I didn’t know until this school year was how beneficial they could be for my students. It is such an amazing way to get the students to think critically, creatively, and collaboratively! I have had several successful encounters when trying to set them up without the kits, however breakout edu does such a phenomenal job of organizing and providing materials that my students would be able to do these fun activities much more often! Not only are escape rooms fun, I have seen first hand how these can help to create a collaborative culture within the classroom! I would love to provide these experiences more frequently for my students and this project would allow for this to happen!
