Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Welcome to our room!! "May I have a pass to go to the library to access the Google program for our history project?" a student asks. This is a constant occurrence in my classroom. Students want to apply the knowledge learned but waste and miss class time due to technological and other material deficits.
Many of my students come from households with both parents working numerous jobs.
Our school has over 80% free or reduced-price lunch and breakfast.
With this though, students strive to better themselves both academically and as individuals. Through their interactions with others at school and their studies, they are gaining the background knowledge and new concepts to be productive members of society. Maintaining their buy-in and interest in school is vital to ensure their success in making good choices for themselves and their future.
My Project
As students enter my classroom they are welcomed by me, the happy teacher, but also a generic, basic painted brick walls. I struggle to decorate and inspire my students with decor that not only will activate their minds academically but in a manner that they will see themselves.
Many of my students are from diverse backgrounds.
You donation will enable me to have my students see themselves reflected in the classroom. The posters in this donation will show individuals from all backgrounds, not just the typical historical figures they learn about. Landmarks from around the room will be displayed.
My students come from many different countries from around the world. Having their nations flags present in the room will engage them even further. Having an equitable and engaging classroom will help my students succeed not only academically but emotionally. Thank you for your support!
