Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students attend an inner city, public school with a high poverty rate and most do not have a stable home environment. I have the privilege of teaching twenty-five, bright, hardworking, inquisitive, energetic and creative, bilingual fifth graders!

My school district has the second-highest child poverty rate of mid-sized school districts in the country; many of my students face tough home environments.

My students come from low-income, high-poverty households. My students are active, hard working, quirky, loving, caring, bilingual fifth grade students eager to learn.

My students belong to a community where creativity and a love of learning are fostered. They are avid readers and imaginative writers. They are bursting with ideas and have so much to share.

My students come from diverse backgrounds and love to share their learning,

These young scholars pour their spirit and energy into their work and their unique voices shine through.

My Project

My students are eager learners and absolutely love the learning we do in our classroom. However, due to COVID-19, our daily teaching and learning is not continuing.

The continuity of learning is not equitable and available to all students now.

Thank you for helping my students have incredible learning experiences and authentic opportunities while distance/crisis learning during this pandemic. My students have many barriers to access online learning curricula and it can seem insurmountable. More than two-thirds of my students do not have a computer at home and therefore, cannot continue their learning while schools are closed.

These resources are necessary supports to help my students learn and grow. As a teacher, it is important to me that my students have access to materials that inspires them and allows them to grow and flourish.
