With the new Epson EcoTank printer and laminating supplies, we can now create color-coded reading materials and durable visual aids that stay \"popping\" and engaging for years to come.\r\n\r\nI am especially moved by your contribution to our \"Colors of the World\" supplies. In a community where nearly 100% of our students come from low-income households and diverse backgrounds, representation is everything. Because of you, our 25 students now have the specific skin-tone crayons and markers they need to draw themselves, their families, and their friends with accuracy and pride. This goes beyond simple art supplies; it fosters a deep sense of belonging and tells every child that they are seen and valued exactly as they are.\r\n\r\nYour investment in Rochester's students is already making a tangible impact on our daily learning environment. I was so excited to get games, music, and actitivies for my new Smart Board without having to pay for them myself. I had previously taken Kodaly methods classes and needed visuals for the songs and activities that match the songs. Thanks to your $100 gift card to Teachers Pay Teachers,, I purchased enough Smartboard Lessons for the entire year to engage my students in using technology to learn music. \r\nI began my lessons with a book that students were able to read to the class that was related to the music concept. For example, I read \"Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What do you see? I see a yellow bird looking at me! (see photo). After the students read the book together, they used the syllables of the color (i.e. red, yellow, purple, orange, brown, black) to create a rhythm pattern on the smartboard and then play the pattern. The Smartboard lessons included lyrics of songs which helped students develop reading literacy. The students played singing games such as \"Naughty Kitty Cat\" and \"Doggie, Doggie, Where's Your Bone?\" and then filled in the rhythm of the song on the Smartboard which integrated math concepts of one or two sounds on a beat and English Language skills with syllables. Even the most reluctant student engaged in taking a turn at the Smartboard to create a rhythm and perform it for the class. They then chose the next quiet student to create and play a rhythm, which increased positive student behavior. Thanks to your kindnesss and generosity, I have even more lessons to present to my students to keep them engaged in learning through technology! Your donation will give them the joy of learning which will go with them for the rest of their lives.","fullyFundedDate":1755721943722,"projectUrl":"project/no-budget-no-basics-need-basic-resourc/9474930/","projectTitle":"No Budget, No Basics: Need Basic Resources to Engage Students","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Hamilton","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp416279_orig.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1549719123601","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/diane-hamilton"},{"teacherId":416279,"projectId":9744264,"letterContent":"I was so excited to show the kindergarten students their rock guitar, glasses, and gloves that I had them ready to use when they came in the music room. The experience helped even the most reluctant student to engage in performing because they felt more comfortable with their hands showing than their whole body. Their mouths even glowed as they sang. My bucket drummers eagerly demonstrated skills they had learned using white gloves because it looked \"cool\" under black light. For every student, performing with white gloves under black light increased their proficiency in their performance and unity with the whole group doing the same movement or rhythm at the exact same time. The chorus performed \"Feliz Navidad\" for the Principal's Breakfast with the gloves and black light. They started the song with the lights on and in the middle of the song when the key changed, the custodian turned the lights off and turned the black lights on. The audience was astonished at the special effect and said it was the best performance they had ever seen!
