My Students
As a proud alumna of this school district, I know firsthand the legacy of academic excellence and athletic ability. I teach in a rural middle school and my students come from every walk of life. They are diverse in interests, ethnicity, socioeconomic background, and religion. It’s wonderful to work within this community!
My students are driven to achieve academic success in my classroom and beyond.
I hope to obtain the resources to provide them with the best second language course to meet that objective.
My Project
In the midst of virtual learning, student and staff quarantines, the use of actual handouts, and educational manipulatives are needed by students. Having electronic access to instructional materials is an amazing option but many students are not thriving within an exclusively virtual environment. Having copies available for parent pick up or during in-person class sessions ensures all students have access to academic practice and excellence.
What has become a problem is the limitation to help students that comes from not having a printer in the classroom.
I can point things out online but for many students that medium is not the best way for them to retain information. Having both, electronic capabilities and printed materials are in the best interests of my students. As long as I have only one - there will be students whose needs go unmet. Being unable to print materials, extra copies, or information for parents means that some students leave our class session without the clarity and best practices for the day.
Many students struggle to organize the information available exclusively online and effectively execute the tasks they need to complete. By having a classroom printer, my students will be able to avoid all of these problems and have the tools to focus on increasing their learning!
