Equipping My MLL Students for Success

Help me give my students basic academic resources to complement what we are doing in class.

My Project

Coming to a new place and navigating a new country and culture is difficult while not knowing the language for multilingual learners. On top of not knowing the English language, these multilingual learners, these students are expected to meet state standards and learn grade level academic content. In addition to this, MLL students need to learn basic conversational skills and vocabulary to communicate.

In order to help each MLL student grow, I want to provide them with different types of scaffolds in the areas of social and academic language.

These scaffolds may include picture visuals, word banks, sentence stems while engaging them in learning.

Learning to read can be a very complex task. It requires a student to be able to have word recognition as well as language comprehension. When students are proficient at both of these domains, they will be skilled readers. This subscription will give me access to many basic reading resources that are geared toward a range of abilities. Students will also get resources for basic conversational skills and my hope is that they will be more excited to learn and reduce the fear and anxiety of being in a new country.
