Equipment for Our Awesome Art Studio

Help me give my students dot spots and the equipment they need to be successful artists in their art classroom studio. In particular, a drying rack will ensure that their artwork is taken care of like the masterpiece it is.

My Students

My students are creative young artists who come to my classroom to explore the world through visual art. I have the honor of being able to teach the entire student population of my K-5 elementary school. This means that I have the opportunity to work with a diverse group of artists from different backgrounds, of different ages, with different skill levels and creative interests. Some of my students are part of the gifted and talented Advance Learning Center, some are learning the English language, some are coping with poverty and insecurity at home, and some are managing special needs. One thing all my students have in common is that they are striving to achieve their own academic goals, while also trying to have fun, explore, and express themselves creatively. As a result, everything we do in the art classroom is used to support their instruction in the core curriculum - as well as their development as great citizens, human beings, and artists.

The students I work with are amazingly creative, fantastically funny, and surprisingly curious.

They are an absolute pleasure to teach, and I am so happy that I have the opportunity to make art with them.

My Project

Returning to school during the COVID-19 pandemic has been a challenging thing for students. Many are feeling anxious and out-of-sorts, many are struggling to adjust to the schedule and expectations of school, and many are behind academically. We are all feeling the increased pressure to perform and progress - to catch up to where we were before the pandemic.

That is why the work that we do in the art classroom is so important.

Students need the opportunity to play, create, experiment, explore, and express now more than ever. Having an organized art classroom can provide them the safe studio space to do the important work of creating. Specifically, having a drying rack for a good place for art to dry, and sit spots for a place for students to sit and think will help them to flow through the art space. These tools will allow them the consistency and routine needed to feel comfortable and open up their creative minds.
