My Students

There are so many good things to say about my students! They strive for excellence and kindness in all that they do. Of course, they are kids, and mistakes are made. I am a school counselor who has the opportunity to teach in each classroom at least twice a month. Above anything else, they love when I read them a book. Even two or three years later they are able to tell me all about a book I read and what they learned from it. I try to use them as often as possible to reinforce SEL skills they are learning. They are ambitious, and eager to do so.

My Project

I am a 4th year school counselor who has seen a dramatic increase in the social and emotional needs of my students. I am getting more and more self-referrals, parent referrals, admin referrals, as well as teacher referrals. The pandemic has definitely contributed to these growing needs.

I will use these tools to address the wide variety of issues that my students are facing on a daily basis, as well as to address issues that teachers request I teach class by class.

Issues such as anxiety, grief, friendship skills, emotional regulation and coping skills. These resources will also help me with individual and group counseling, and will make learning exciting!
