My Students

Our students are motivated, eager to learn and passionate about the environment. We serve a diverse student population of over 2000 students. Our students come from a range of backgrounds Hispanic, Caucasian, Asian, African American, and Filipino. Over 50% of our campus is eligible for free or reduced lunch program. Many students utilize our on-campus technology centers, support services in order to succeed and become the first in their families to go to college.

Working to develop a rigorous environmental studies program beginning in Science instruction at our site in 7th grade, continuing through Biology, and delving deeper in our AP Environmental Science Course.

Our students want to be responsible global citizens, but need access to models and technology to help them understand concepts and broaden their outlooks.

My Project

This kit will help my students understand a tricky concept, eutrophication. Understanding how humans are impacting our environment and increasing dead zones in streams, lakes, and estuaries will be important.

Students will also look for ways to prevent or remediate dead areas.

Students will practice Science Engineering Principles. Students will also utilize data analysis. Students need to prepare to understand important scientific issues that will affect us globally. Students will learn how eutrophication can cause ecosystem collapse. Students need more hands-on materials such as this kit. We do not have easy access to streams or water sources. Thank you for helping.
