The new bookcases have allowed us to house all of our books neatly, which means my students can easily find books they are interested in. Many of my students do not have access to books at home, so having a wide selection in class is very important. We read at least once a week during class, and students keep reading logs to track their progress. One recent moment that stands out is when a student discovered a series she had never read before and immediately started reading aloud to a friend. The excitement in the classroom was contagious.\r\n\r\nThe reaction from my students when they first saw the new materials was priceless. They were thrilled to see the library organized and accessible. Some students even spent extra time exploring different genres and titles, which shows how much they value having books they can choose themselves.\r\n\r\nThe traffic light for controlling classroom volume has also been a big help. Students understand the expectations for quiet and respectful conversation, and our class discussions run much more smoothly. We can focus on learning without distractions, which helps everyone stay engaged.\r\n\r\nNext, my students will continue building their reading skills and exploring new books. We plan to start a unit on historical fiction where students will read independently and discuss their books in small groups. They will continue keeping reading logs and sharing insights, which helps deepen their understanding and fosters a love of reading. Your support has made all of this possible, and my students are thriving because of it.","fullyFundedDate":1755726921258,"projectUrl":"project/classroom-library-and-decor/9606470/","projectTitle":"Classroom Library and Decor","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Dunnicliff-Vizthum","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp1226034_orig.jpg?crop=1170,1170,x0,y46&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1743783658730","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/mrsdv"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_68303","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":2923,"numTeachers":101,"percentFrplEligible":47,"percentAsian":30,"percentBlack":3,"percentWhite":19,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":42,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"9 - 12","studentTeacherRatio":"28.9:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":false,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":70.6,"schoolId":68303,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Clovis East High School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Clovis East High School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/california/clovis-unified-school-district/clovis-east-high-school/68303"}
